Spearheaded by the LIDILE research center and led by researcher and lecturer William Kelleher, 'Ce qui nous concerne' (CQNC) aims to showcase narratives collected from engaged stakeholders of the third sector in Rennes. Through stories and testimonials, the project seeks to continue the long-standing history of collaboration between Rennes 2 University and the local social and associative fabric. With the involvement of organizations like the Maisons de Quartier, ESS Cargo & CIE, the goal is to map, preserve, and reflect on socially engaged voices.
Volunteers are invited to participate in interviews conducted by Eduardo Chavez Herrera, a postdoctoral researcher associated with the project. During these interviews, participants share their personal experiences and their roles within associations or the third sector. These narratives are used to build a corpus of audio recordings with accompanying transcriptions, photographs, and images. The entire collection is hosted on Nakala. This corpus is also accessible in a dedicated space on the virtual platform Rennes 2 WorkAdventure, an interactive library that serves as the starting point for moments of reflection and collaboration (exhibitions, workshops, study days, and publications).
Pierre-André Souville of Maison de Quartier La Touche (MLQT) is developing the future answering-and-recording system in collaboration with Julie Brindejont, a volunteer at MQLT. Also as part of the project, in collaboration with the MQLT, a group of local residents, accompanied by Stéphane Pelé, a digital mediator, is building a wooden, dismantlable, and portable English-style telephone booth equipped with a programmable answering machine. The goal is to collect testimonials, anecdotes, critiques, ideas, memories, and project aspirations. In this booth, individuals can isolate themselves and, in complete privacy, leave a message for MQLT or the CQNC project, continuing the effort to give value to the micro-narratives of daily life.
The booth was presented at the Maison des Associations on Saturday, December 14, during the event “Fabrique!”organized by the Rennes-based association Bug.
Eventually, it will be located at the MQLT, but as it can be dismantled and transported, it can be lent to other associations for events. It will also have a similar avatar in the virtual world WorkAdventure.
It will also feature at Rennes 2 University Open Days/House on February 1st.
